The Calgary Dance Club is pleased to present a unique opportunity for our Intermediate (with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Intermediate level classes) and higher students to showcase your skills, abilities, and your love of dance as part of a team dance routine to be presented at the 2020 Primavera Ball (March 14, 2020). We also hope to showcase this routine and your skills at other parties and venues to promote the Club.
This team routine will be taught by our Club Professional, Alexandra McPherson. She will be choreographing the routine, and assigning roles (based on skills, abilities, and interest).
Registration and pre-payment for the first 5-week session (January 2020) will be required by December 20, 2020. Registration and prepayment for the second 5-week session will be required by January 24, 2020. Registration and prepayment for the third 5-week session will be required by February 24, 2020.
If you are unable to register online and are eligible, please email us at email@example.com to express your intent to register and we will work with you to complete the registration over the holidays.
For a team routine like this to succeed, we ask that all team members commit to:
- Attending all classes and extra practices. This will ensure that you know the material and can practice the steps with your team.
- Limiting absences to emergencies only. If you do need to miss a class, you are responsible to learn the material from peers or by requesting assistance from the Senior TA or instructor. Please do not sign up for this class if you know you are going to be away for more than 1 week per session (or 2 weeks between the two sessions).
- Practice, practice, practice. You will be expected to master the routine and the dance techniques involved. This will ensure that what we present to the public is as refined and polished as possible, and allows us to showcase the quality of dance instruction the public can expect to find at The Calgary Dance Club.
A team costume will be chosen based on the routine theme, with every effort made to limit costume costs to team members. (Costumes will not be elaborate and will include elements that are easy to find at local shops).
Additional costs may be involved for additional practice, which may include additional professional instruction time and/or space rental. The Club will make every effort to minimize these extra expenses by using existing venue bookings, where possible.
