Don’t have someone to dance partner dances with at home, but you still want to learn how to dance East Coast Swing? We’ve got you covered with this line dance version – fully choreographed by our own Club Professional, Alexandra McPherson!
East Coast Swing is an American dance that can trace it’s roots back to the Lindy Hop that originated in the dance halls of the 1920s – 1930s. It is a great “starter dance” that can be danced to popular tunes going back to the last 8 decades or so! Fun to dance or watch, the East Coast Swing, (along with the Waltz,) is often chosen by couples to perform as their “first dance” at weddings!
Danced to a “triple time” rhythm, this form of Swing utilizes Rock steps and Triple Steps that demonstrate the “swinging action of the body.” This is a popular dance that is enjoyed all over the world so do take the time to learn it and become a part of this global Swing Dance community!
Look for practice music to work with in our Facebook Online Community Group as part of our weekly Practice Tune Tuesday series!
