Club Professionals

The Calgary Dance Club works with Professional dance instructors, who teach classes, train Club instructors, and teaching assistants.

Over the years, our instructors, teaching assistants, and members have enjoyed learning from a variety of professional dance instructors, including Kim Donaghy, Jo Jo Belmonte, Dan Pittman, Brian Senn, among others.

Alexandra McPherson

Alex is our current dance professional, who brings her extensive knowledge and experience to the Club. She has trained in almost every style of partner dance, competed professionally throughout North America in both American and International styles, and is a two-time Canadian Closed Standard Finalist. Alex holds her licentiate in both International style Ballroom and Latin, has Associate degrees in Rhythm and Smooth, won Top New Instructor for Arthur Murray’s International when she was 18 years old and opened an independent dance studio with her husband at 20.

Alex works hard with the Club Executive towards a common goal of promoting dance through the things that make us unique – the types of dances, quality of instruction, fun factor, and “the inclusiveness of people of all ages and abilities [that] is so fantastic that [members] can’t help but brag about it.” She would also like to see the Club’s classes, dances, and workshops to be continually so successful that they are sold out and the talk of the town. “My goal is to teach and inspire as many members as possible to be fantastic dancers/teachers/assistants and to have them absolutely loving it.”
