(Dance 3A) Advanced Rumba

Building on a solid foundation of Rumba at the intermediate level, this course builds on that foundation with more intricate steps and advanced technique to make your Rumba really shine on the dance floor.

If you’ve ever watched “Dancing with the Stars,” you have probably seen the Rumba in action! This theatrical dance can be utilized to relate stories of love and passion between a male dancer and his sometimes shy, often teasing partner. Full of sensual movements, the Rumba is considered by many to be the sexiest of the ballroom dances. Doesn’t that sound like fun?! So, what are you waiting for? Let’s start dancing tonight!

Rumba is a slow Latin-American dance of Cuban origin. After being introduced to the United States in the 1920s, Rumba gained a lot more popularity when it started to be formally taught in the 1950s. The dance is fun to watch and is considered one of the most versatile of the social dances being taught all over the world! Slow, sensual, and alluring, the Rumba is danced to 4/4 time and is characterized by a distinctive hip action called Cuban Motion.

Lastly, this dance is one of the most popular dance genres for cruises and weddings. Many couples choose it for their first dance because of its sensual, romantic music and also because it is one of the easier dances to learn.
