(Line Dance) Intermediate Night Club Two-Step

Line dancing is exactly what its name implies: people dancing in lines to music. It is a choreographed dance routine that is usually performed by a group of people all facing in the same direction, and executing the steps at the same time. The movements are synchronized, with a repeated sequence where participants could dance in one or more rows.

Night Club Two Step is a slow dance that is perfect for nightclub, party, or wedding dancing. Wedding couples choose it because of its romantic, slow, and relaxed characteristics that are typically danced to a slower tempo of music. It is also popular with Country Western dancers who might include a version of this dance in their competitions. In addition, it is a common dance at West Coast Swing dance events because the music of both share the same emphasis, i.e. on the second beat.

This dance style is typically danced to ballads with a 4/4 timing, however, it can also be done to easy listening, smooth jazz, and R&B music. NightC lub Two-Step is an easier dance that almost anyone can learn.  Its key characteristic is a rock step (5th position break) followed by a side step with a slight sway.  The frame is relaxed with a little more distance between the partners, and some say it is one of the most practical and versatile social dances ever conceived!

Other than the obvious physical, emotional and social benefits, Line Dancing offers several other perks. Most importantly, one is not dependant on a partner to learn and practice this activity. It can be danced to all kinds of music and is suitable to be performed at small and large parties, weddings, clubs, and cruises, etc. Some of the beginner dances are fairly easy to master and one can feel welcome in joining any festivities that are happening around us. During these times of Covid-19 restrictions, this is an easy alternative to Ballroom and other forms of partner dancing.
